Oak Alley Plantation was built in 1837 and is famous for its 28 evenly spaced, several hundred year-old Live Oaks that line the 1/4 mile path from River Road to the front of the plantation house. The guides are in period dress as they take you through the grand home, giving you the histories of its families, traditions and their home. There are additional attractions on the grounds including a restaurant, cafe and gift shop.
Laura Plantation was built and operated by four Creole women. The main house burned down in 2003, and an exact replica was built using wood and materials from other antique buildings. The rebuilding of the plantation house is a story in itself. You'll learn how the southern folk tale Br'er Rabbit was first recorded here as part of this unique tour and see the darker side of history -- its slave quarters. This tour has been consistently rated one of the nations best historic tours.
It is approximately a 1 hour 15 minute ride from the French Quarter to the Plantations. Restrooms are available at the plantations. Foldable wheelchairs are convenient for movement around the grounds and in the plantation house.

The boat operator was fun, friendly and very informative. His sense of humor was great. I asked many questions and he gave me much background on the area, ecology, plant an animal life. The feeding of the gators was amazing. Another trip offered by your company that is a winner.. The bus driver was also very engaging and fun. All good! (Posted on 5/16/2017)

Really enjoyed our 2 tours with the New Orleans Tour Company! They picked us up very punctual in a nice tour vehicle. The drivers were very courteous, humourous and informative. The travelling was nice and comfortable and tours themselves were very enjoyable. The only thing I would recommend would be to supply a bottle of water for each passenger as part of the package. It's cheap and would be a nice extra touch. The driver could have a cooler with ice cold water in it to pass out for the way home. So glad I booked with this company as the tours were really well done! Thank you!! (Posted on 4/3/2017)

The driver should consider another job he was a horrible narrator and 3 hours was a long time to spend listening to his poorly informed gibberish (Posted on 10/26/2016)
