Laura Plantation was built and operated by four Creole women. The main house burned down in 2003, and an exact replica was built using wood and materials from other antique buildings. The rebuilding of the plantation house is a story in itself. You'll learn how the southern folk tale Br'er Rabbit was first recorded here as part of this unique tour and see the darker side of history--the slave quarters
It is approximately a 1 hour 15 minute ride from the French Quarter to the Plantations. Restrooms are available at the plantation. Most of the house and trails are wheel chair accessible. Foldable wheelchairs are convenient for movement around the grounds and in the plantation house.

Tour Duration 6.5 hours Date: No
My pickup time says "between 8:30AM-9AM?" Why the 30 minute window?
Coaches have to navigate throughout the Downtown?CBD (central business district) and French Quarter streets to pickup at the various hotels. Most tours have separate coaches for either area, though some tours use one coach. With the wide range of hotel stops, pedestrians and vehicle traffic it is impossible to give an exact time.
We ask for your cell phone contact number during the booking process so that the driver may get in touch with you directly, should he/she be running behind or is at your hotel and is waiting. To expedite the process, we ask our guests to be ready at the earliest pick-up time, and we certainly appreciate your understanding and patience.
Do any tours include snacks, meals or drinks?
No tours provide any snacks, drinks or meals. However, guests are always welcome to bring drinks and snacks on the coaches (please don't make a mess and dispose of your trash!) and for longer combo tours, guests are also welcome to bring their own lunches and if you advise us in the "comment" section of your order checkout, please mention that you'd like a cooler available.
During City Tours, there will be a short (approx. 20 minutes) break for guests to use the restroom or purchase snacks or drinks. At the airboat and swamp tour dock locations, there are also snacks and drinks available for purchase. On the Plantation Tours, Oak Alley has a full-restaurant as well as snack bar and several areas on the grounds for guests to purchase drinks in the warmer months. Laura Plantation offers light snacks (think chips, cookies, crackers) and drinks (water, sodas).
What is the pickup area for the tours? I don't see my hotel on the pickup list..
We've provided a handy map for you to search! The pickup area is shaded yellow.Click the map to search hotels:
We are only able to arrange hotel pickup in the French Quarter and Downtown/CBD area, as well as some of the Uptown area, out to approximately the 2100 block.
While not all hotels and properties are listed on our dropdown pickup menu (hotels and properties change names and owners frequently), rest assured, if you're located in the pickup area, we'll get'cha!
For those staying outside of the pickup area, we recommend quick & easy parking at the parking lot directly across from the Westin Canal Place, 100 Iberville St. Walk across the bricked street and have a seat under the awning and we'll pick you up there and drop you back. The lot is just a short walk from the French Quarter, Jackson Square and the French Market and other sights like like the riverfront park, ferry terminal and Audubon Aquarium.
Review by Plantation tour back into history
The plantations were very nice, and they had their own guides who did a good job. We have good things to say about the restaurant at Oak Alley--we had only a few moments and they accommodated us nicely. The ride to and from was something else. The driver had been with them only 2 months and the trip out there was white-knuckle driving all the way--we passed every vehicle on the road. Not sure if we were late leaving NO--possibly, because the trip home was fine, and the driver did make time for photos a couple of places. (Posted on 10/14/2016)

The tour was wonderful. Our bus driver was very pleasant, funny and up-to-date on New Orleans, Katrina and the area. The guides at each plantation were great!! My husband and I enjoyed the day. I think the tour could leave earlier in the morning so we would have more time for lunch. If you had lunch, there was not much time to wander around at Oak Alley. Overall a great tour. The Oak Alley tour was very pleasant. The new slave quarter section is most interesting. The Laura is spectacular, though. It is highly educational and interesting. Touring the main building and the surrounding property adds a new dimension of understanding of antebellum LA. life, which differs from VA plantation life in several aspects. I loved it. My recent Oak Alley and Laura Combo Plantation tour fulfilled all of my expectations and then some! The plantations were truly beautiful and the tour guides really knew their stuff, telling interesting stories filled with history. Made it all come alive for us and I learned more than I thought I would. The pace was leisurely, never hurried and it was just a relaxing, fun afternoon at a great price. Our driver was also very good, timely and friendly. All of our dealings with NO Tour Company went off without a hitch and we will use them for any and all tours in NO in the future. They really know the area! (Posted on 6/2/2014)

Very good tours. Both tours gave us a great picture of how these places came to be and how the people who lived there 9inclduing the slaves) lived. (Posted on 5/27/2014)
