This is considered by many in the tour industry as the best historical plantation tour in the Mississippi Valley. The plantation was run by four Creole women; most notable was Laura, from where the plantation gets it's name. The women ran the plantation over 60 years, using slave labor to do it.

You will get to view and enter the slave quarters, as part of this tour. On this tour, you will hear stories of all aspects of the plantation life. The fable Br'er Rabbit was first recorded here.

The Plantation house was nearly destroyed by fire back in 2003, but it was rebuilt to the original design using building materials from antique homes that was disassembled and sold off in pieces. The rebuilding process is a story in itself.

Tours of Laura are about an hour and 15 minutes.

What’s Included

My pickup time says "between 8:30AM-9AM?" Why the 30 minute window?

Coaches have to navigate throughout the Downtown?CBD (central business district) and French Quarter streets to pickup at the various hotels. Most tours have separate coaches for either area, though some tours use one coach. With the wide range of hotel stops, pedestrians and vehicle traffic it is impossible to give an exact time.

We ask for your cell phone contact number during the booking process so that the driver may get in touch with you directly, should he/she be running behind or is at your hotel and is waiting. To expedite the process, we ask our guests to be ready at the earliest pick-up time, and we certainly appreciate your understanding and patience.

Do any tours include snacks, meals or drinks?

No tours provide any snacks, drinks or meals. However, guests are always welcome to bring drinks and snacks on the coaches (please don't make a mess and dispose of your trash!) and for longer combo tours, guests are also welcome to bring their own lunches and if you advise us in the "comment" section of your order checkout, please mention that you'd like a cooler available.

During City Tours, there will be a short (approx. 20 minutes) break for guests to use the restroom or purchase snacks or drinks. At the airboat and swamp tour dock locations, there are also snacks and drinks available for purchase. On the Plantation Tours, Oak Alley has a full-restaurant as well as snack bar and several areas on the grounds for guests to purchase drinks in the warmer months. Laura Plantation offers light snacks (think chips, cookies, crackers) and drinks (water, sodas).

What is the pickup area for the tours? I don't see my hotel on the pickup list..

We've provided a handy map for you to search! The pickup area is shaded yellow.

We are only able to arrange hotel pickup in the French Quarter and Downtown/CBD area, as well as some of the Uptown area, out to approximately the 2100 block.

While not all hotels and properties are listed on our dropdown pickup menu (hotels and properties change names and owners frequently), rest assured, if you're located in the pickup area, we'll get'cha!

For those staying outside of the pickup area, we recommend quick & easy parking at the parking lot directly across from the Westin Canal Place, 100 Iberville St. Walk across the bricked street and have a seat under the awning and we'll pick you up there and drop you back. The lot is just a short walk from the French Quarter, Jackson Square and the French Market and other sights like like the riverfront park, ferry terminal and Audubon Aquarium.

  2. Review by Ron from Stevensville MI

This tour began the minute we boarded the bus and drove an hour to the plantation. Very knowledgeable and passionate tour guide. You could tell he loved what he was doing. The guide at Laura's Plantation was also very knowledgeable and the history learned was appreciated. Also, we were picked up and dropped off at our condo which made things so easy convenient. My girlfriends and I thoroughly enjoyed this tour on 12/13/13. The history of the plantation was fascinating and the tour guide, Rose was excellent. Her passion for this history of the plantation was evident. We wished we had more time. (Posted on 12/18/2013)
