Laura Plantation was built and operated by four Creole women. The main house burned down in 2003, and an exact replica was built using wood and materials from other antique buildings. The rebuilding of the plantation house is a story in itself. You'll learn how the southern folk tale Br'er Rabbit was first recorded here as part of this unique tour and see the darker side of history--the slave quarters

It is approximately a 1 hour 15 minute ride from the French Quarter to the Plantations. Restrooms are available at the plantation. Most of the house and trails are wheel chair accessible. Foldable wheelchairs are convenient for movement around the grounds and in the plantation house.

Martha Duran on Oak Alley & Laura Plantations

Very good tours. Both tours gave us a great picture of how these places came to be and how the people who lived there 9inclduing the slaves) lived.
